The difference? On average, advisors who conduct non-medical questionnaires themselves can get policies issued up to 16 days faster. In some cases, Clients may even receive instant approval or straight-through-underwriting (STU). A well completed non-medical questionnaire with details and explanations can help save you and the Client time.
That's 16 more days of coverage and 16 less days of Client uncertainty.
Making it easier
At Sun Life, we’re investing in enhancements to help make the non-medical route as smooth as possible. Recent improvements include:
- A new tip sheet to help you prepare for the non-medical questionnaire.
- Phonetic pronunciations for medical terms (simply select the information icon within the non-medical questionnaire in Sun eApp).
- Automatic age retention for backdating less than 11 months to simplify backdating rules and eliminate the need for manual requests in special instructions.
- AML information is now collected only for Universal Life (UL) policies or applications with Temporary Insurance Coverage (TIC), with optional collection for other products in Sun eApp, reducing unnecessary information gathering and simplifying the application process.
- Increased STU, with 40% of eligible cases being processed right away.
- Instant approval for 54% of applications that go through our STU model, giving Clients great news on the spot.
- Streamlined workflows designed with advisor efficiency in mind to consolidate replacements into one disclosure form (4357), reducing follow-ups and speeding up policy delivery.
