AML updates coming to Sun eApp on April 26

April 22, 2026

Important updates are coming to Sun eApp on April 26, including changes to AML requirements and FATCA/CRS collection.

We're making important changes to continue to improve the application process and ensure we're collecting only the information we need.

Anti-Money Laundering (AML) for Universal Life (UL) products only

What's changing?

  • For new applications or replacements and conversions, we now collect AML information only for Universal Life (UL) policies.
    • You can enter AML details in Sun eApp, but it’s optional and won’t block submission.
    • Important: If you add Temporary Insurance Coverage (TIC), Sun eApp will require AML information.
  • For in-force policies, AML information is still required for all non-exempt life insurance policies.

FATCA/CRS information collection updated for Participating and Permanent Life policies

What's changing?

  • For Participating and Permanent policies, FATCA/CRS information for individual owners will populate on a separate form within the Sun eApp eSign package.
  • Sun eApp now includes a new FATCA/CRS details screen to collect this information.

What's staying the same?

  • FATCA/CRS information is still required.
  • For individual owners with Universal Life policies, the process remains the same and will continue to populate on the application form (4830) as usual.
  • For non-individual Clients, there is no change. Continue using the International tax classification for an entity (4545) form and attach in Sun eApp.

Why are we doing this?

While we’re no longer collecting AML information on all permanent plans (UL only), we still need the FATCA/CRS information.

AML for third-party payor on UL products

What's changing?

If you voluntarily provide AML information in Sun eApp, the system will request third-party payor information when the payor and owner are different on a UL product.

What’s the impact?

  • AML remains optional for advisors.
  • If you start AML, you’ll be asked to add third party payor information.
  • If you opt out of AML, you won't be asked.

Why are we doing this?

Collecting payor details at application when someone other than the owner is paying for the coverage, reduces follow ups for missing information and leads to faster processing.
