Sun Life cares about protecting your personal information. With two-step verification, signing in might look a little different, but it will help keep your account, and your Client’s information protected.

What it means for you

Sun Life is serious about protecting your personal data. Two-step verification adds an extra layer of security that will help prevent someone else from getting into your account to access sensitive business and client information. Sun Life will verify your identity with a verification code when we consider it necessary.

How it works

It doesn’t take long to set up:

  • You’ll start by adding a phone number or work email address.
  • You can choose to have the security code sent by text message, phone call or email.
  • To confirm your identity, you may be asked for a one-time verification code during sign-in. It may be because you're signing in with an unfamiliar browser. 
  • You can elect to have this step included every time you sign in.
  • Never give anyone else your verification code.

Two-Step Verification is a valuable tool as part of Sun Life’s dedication to protecting the data of both you and your Clients. Given this, there’s no choice to opt out. Two-Step Verification provides an added layer of security to help keep your and your Client’s account safe from unauthorized users in case your password is ever compromised.

You can have one phone number and one email address on file to have multiple ways to receive the verification code. For instance, if you're not near your phone, you can get the code by email.

We can send your verification code by email, text message or phone call. For landlines, we don’t support text to voice message or phone numbers with extensions.

If you don’t see an email from Sun Life, check your junk and spam folders. Turn off your VPN and resend the code to yourself if you don’t see the email with the verification code in your inbox.

Sun Life charges no fees for Two-Step Verification. Keep in mind, if your one-time verification code is sent via SMS, there could be standard messaging and data fees from your carrier. Please refer to your mobile plan details for more information on messaging fees.

Your phone number and email address will only be used to provide you with your one-time verification code during the Two-Step Verification process. The contact information that you provide us will not be used for any other communication or marketing purpose.

When you set up two-step verification, you’ll be able to choose between two options for receiving a one-time verification code: Only when Sun Life requires it, or every time you sign in.

If you choose to receive a code only when we need to confirm your identity, we’ll still ask you to complete verification the first time you sign in. After that, you’ll be asked to receive a code only if we notice something’s changed.
