Veronika Popova

Veronika Popova leads the Portfolio Consulting team at Vanguard Investments Canada where she helps advisors make the best of their investment proposition by providing in depth, bespoke portfolio analysis and consultation. Veronika has held numerous positions across several Canadian asset management firms, including Vanguard. Prior to her role, Veronika was Director of ETF Strategy at CI Global Asset Management where she provided advisors with expertise and insights on asset allocation, portfolio construction, product recommendation, and model analysis. Prior to that, she was on the ETF Capital Markets team at Vanguard where she managed the primary and secondary market operations of our ETF lineup, ensuring sufficient volume and attractive bid/ask spreads for investors, in addition to acting as a subject matter expert on all things ETF.

Veronika holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from Toronto Metropolitan (formerly Ryerson) University and is also a CFA charter holder.

Advisors will expand their knowledge into the business owner/corporate market. By learning how corporate clients are unique and what matters most to them, advisors will learn how to ask critical questions around business succession, risk mitigation and retirement income planning.

Insurance strategies that address some of these critical business owner concerns will be examined by looking at products and strategies commonly used in the marketplace.

  • Adapt the corporate conversation to the 5 particular needs of business owner clients
  • Apply the correct insurance planning cycle that best aligns with the growth stage of a client’s business
  • Apply the correct insurance solution that solves the corporate client’s human capital and financial capital needs
  • Uncover a client’s insurance needs by asking the 4 critical questions and understand the 3 main insurance strategies
  • Apply insurance strategies with a client (through a case study)

Yi Lin

Yi Lin, known as Lynn, recently embraced the role of AVP & Marketing Actuary at Sun Life, bringing a wealth of experience to enhance the company’s competitive edge in retail insurance products and solutions. With a successful background as Head of Product and Chief Actuary at AIA Vietnam, Lynn has demonstrated exceptional skill in product strategy and development across dynamic markets.

Educated at the University of Waterloo, Lynn is also a proud Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. Outside of her professional life, Lynn is a mother of a 4-year-old boy, an art enthusiast, and a culinary adventurer.
