It is increasingly becoming the estate and tax planning norm for more than one individual to jointly own property in the form of investments or real estate. This seminar will provide an overview of joint ownership of property, including the tax and legal implications. You will learn about the different types of joint ownership, the circumstances in which this strategy may be deployed as well as key information that will help families avoid potentially adverse tax and legal consequences.

Tim has spent his career in wealth management, specifically in estate/trust administration, high/ultra-high net worth planning, business and farm transition and continuity, cross border planning, inter-generational wealth transfer, tax strategies, legacy planning, philanthropy, trust and estate planning, and disability planning.

Tim has completed Levels I, II and III of the Canadian CPA In-Depth Tax Program and holds the Masters Financial Advisor–Philanthropy (MFA-P™), Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) and Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA™) designations. He earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Master of Laws (LLM) from California Western School of Law, and a Master of Laws in Taxation Law (LLM) from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University.
