The telephone numbers will remain the same. And GEM will provide the same emergency out-of-country and out-of-province travel assistance as Allianz did.
Our goal is a seamless transition for PHI and HCC policy owners who have emergency travel medical coverage. Clients whose PHI and HCC plans don’t have this coverage won’t be able to access these services.
About GEM
GEM is one of Canada’s leading providers of emergency travel services, with 25 years of experience providing emergency travel assistance to Canadians.
What this means for Clients
We’ll communicate this change to some PHI and HCC policy owners because their contracts name Allianz as their emergency travel medical coverage provider. The letter will serve as the Client’s policy amendment. We’ll share a copy of the Client letter with you before we mail them.
Clients can download their new travel card on mysunlife.ca or the my Sun Life mobile app on or after July 1, 2023. There will be no change to their coverage. And since the telephone numbers remain the same, there’s no impact if a Client hasn’t downloaded their new travel card yet.
Allianz will continue to manage claims started before July 1, 2023 until they’re completed. GEM will handle new claims started on July 1, 2023, or after.
