One of Wai's favourite sayings, and a rule that he lives by is “what you share, you multiply, and what you hold, you diminish.” Wai brings this collaborative spirit to his work every day. He's a passionate and positive leader who builds long term partnerships, trust and respect. By working together with advisors and sharing and collaborating on best practices, he helps advisors grow their business.

Wai joined Sun Life in 2014, with over two decades of experience in insurance and financial sales management. His focus was on Whole Life, Critical Illness, and Long Term Care Insurance. He started his career in insurance as a Sales Agent and progressively climbed the ranks to Sales Manager, Branch Manager, Sales Trainer, Divisional Sales Administrator and Regional Sales Manager with Combined Insurance, a subsidiary of AON. As a Regional Sales Manager, he led the sales operations which included recruiting, training, developing and coaching advisors, sales and branch managers to increase company sales. Most recently Wai held the position of Regional Vice President, Sales and Business Development with Heritage Education Funds, where he was responsible for developing sales and distribution strategies. He built and nurtured strong relationships, and trained and developed advisors, which included contracting and training distribution with MGA/AGAs.

Wai holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Manitoba and is licensed in both life insurance and mutual funds. He has his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and is currently working towards obtaining his Chartered Financial Planner (CFP) designation. Wai is fluent in English and Cantonese and conversational in Mandarin.

In his current role as Regional Vice-President, he is responsible for mentoring and motivating his team to drive the sales of Managing General Agencies (MGA's) and National Accounts in the Central South-Western Ontario and Atlantic region. He achieves this by encouraging his team to develop business partnerships with Strategic Partners and high potential advisors by introducing best practice sales and business development ideas. He's proud to be part of a strong team of Sun Life support and advanced case specialists, who work alongside him as he helps advisors grow their business.
