Motor neuron disease

Definition

Motor neuron disease means a definite diagnosis of one of the following conditions and is limited to these conditions:

  • amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease)
  • primary lateral sclerosis
  • progressive spinal muscular atrophy
  • progressive bulbar palsy, or
  • pseudo bulbar palsy.

The diagnosis of motor neuron disease must be made by a specialist.
